The Montessori Garden School

Our main goal is providing a quality Montessori experience for working parents so their child gets the childcare and schooltime at the same location. So we are only taking fulltime 5 day a week children. Sometimes there are afternoon only openings- please ask.

The afternoons are perfect for children attending morning only kindergarten.

The school opens at 6:45 a.m. for extended care, with the morning session of preschool beginning at 8:15 and concluding at 11:30.  The afternoon preschool session begins at  1:00 and concludes at 3:30.  The school closes at 6 p.m.

Our before and after School  programs  still follow Montessori philosophy of children choosing and putting away their own activities, but there in an emphasis on stories, group play, art projects, outdoor play and games.

Meals and snacks are served to all children enrolled and we have a wonderful- locally grown and bought, (organic when we can find it)- and whole foods menu.  Everything is handmade.

The children learn to cook many different types of foods, including recipes from other countries.  We eat what we cook, so children may try food they would in other circumstances, not want to try.

Nature walks are also a part of our curriculum and we enjoy getting out there in nature.

I am proud of our interactive outdoor play area- with herbs, gardening, an area for running and bikes, trees with birds in them, fruit trees, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries to pick seasonably and enjoy together. The children wear gardening boots 9 months out of the year and help to take care of our outdoor environment with composting, weeding and planting.

We recycle and use only washable dishes to leave a smaller "footprint" and the chidlren are involved with why we hardly throw anythng away.

Language and the approach to reading, along with sensory development, math skills, social and emotional development, and science are our strong points at our school.

We have yearly social events which include a Christmas Program, Graduation, Mother's Day Tea, and a Celebration of Dad.

We celebrate Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter and The 4th of July. 

We run an all year school, with the summer program slightly different- in that we have more outdoor time, weekly field trips and weekly enrichment themes.

The weeks of Christmas and New Year- we are open for childcare only.
